Advanced Antiplatelet Therapy for Non-ST-Segment-Elevation ACS in the Upstream Care Setting
This educational activity will provide the most current information and guidance on the evidence basis and practical use of upstream oral antiplatelet therpay (OAP) in NSTE-ACS.
When & Where:
Thursday, September 10, 2015
Chapter Business Meeting (open to everyone): 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
CEU and Complimentary Dinner (RSVP Required): 6:00 pm
This educational activity will provide the most current information and guidance on the evidence basis and practical use of upstream oral antiplatelet therapy (OAP) in NSTE-ACS. OAP is an established, foundational component of therapy for ACS. While there has been other educational activities on this topic, there remains significant inconsistency in contemporary practice, poor compliance with guidelines, disagreement about optimal timing/doses of agents, and discontinuity of therapy at critical transitions of care points. By incorporating a case-based, interactive game format, our faculty will present the content in a manner that increases audience participation and allows for far greater discussion opportunities. Additionally, it provides the opportunity for you to engage in a bit of fun competition with your colleagues.
Following implementation of Advanced Antiplatelet Therapy for Non-ST-Segment-Elevation ACS (NTSE - ACS) in the Upstream Care Setting, the participant will be better able to:
Cite evidence that outlines the rationale for OAP in the upstream setting in NSTE-ACS care
Integrate a systematic process for risk stratification for both ischemic sequelae and hemorrhagic complications in patients with NSTE-ACS prior to diagnostic angiography
Differentiate among the currently available OAP agents
Design and implement an upstream evaluation and treatment algorithm for NSTE-ACS for emergency physicians, emergency nurses and hospitalists in alignment with ongoing cardiology care and primary care.
