Join us to learn from this national speaker, ED nurse, ED Director & Consultant.  It is said that it takes only 3 seconds to make a first impression. In that 3 seconds a person makes an evaluation that can be nearly impossible to reverse or undo. This first impression sets the tone for all of the relationships that follow. Why then do we almost always cause the triage nurse to become the grumpiest, most frustrated, ugliest nurse on duty?   With the focus on violence in the ED, we can mitigate the risk for patient (and family escalation) by ensuring the arriving patients feel they are important and cared about.  Learn how, with just a little effort your team can ensure the arrival process is going to WOW the patient and his family. You really can change perception!

Objectives:

1. Define the "front door" to the hospital and the patient's arrival expectations

2. Identify characteristics that will transform your arrival process to best practice

3. Compare different models of getting the doctor closer to the patient

4. Review cases from other institutions and lessons learned
